I’ve always loved beautiful things: interiors, art, nature.

I grew up in the Lancashire Pennines, surrounded by wild moorland landscapes and fierce weather. Our home was filled with books, music, and objects with interesting stories to tell. My mother’s Polish heritage was woven into the food we ate, traditions we observed and the stories we were told - folklore and forests will always hold a deep interest for me.

After school I studied English at university, then became a teacher - a career I dipped in and out of over the years.

And in between: floristry, merchandising, a diploma in interior design, a job in a museum, and selling my own artwork - pen and ink drawings, relief and mono prints..

But two things have been a constant for the past decade and beyond: photography and writing.

I began my blog, Mitenska, back in 2012. It was a creative outlet for a then slightly overwhelmed mother to a small baby, but it grew and eventually developed into Frond & Feather.

My photography style and skills also evolved as time went on. I was offered, and took up, the position of Nature Editor then Deputy Editor of a quarterly lifestyle magazine.

A move to the Hebrides with my family in 2017 resulted in my running printmaking and natural crafts workshops. I also undertook some brand photography for local businesses, as well as for my own.

Then, three years later, we returned home - almost. Just a hop, skip and jump over the moor from Lancashire’s Rossendale Valley to West Yorkshire’s Calder Valley. Same rugged landscape, same turbulent weather…

I launched a print publication, Frond & Feather Journal, featuring my own content and photography. It celebrated seasonality, slow living and savouring the small joys to be found in the everyday, and quickly sold out after each additional print run.

Whilst still writing the blog (and producing the Journal) I continued with my photography journey. My styling skills developed both as a result of producing the Journal and having taken a course which covered the fundamentals of photographic styling - both theory and practical - and I offered ‘test run’ workshops to friends and family, in order to get them just right…

And now: here we are. I’m still as in love with photography as I was when I first took the leap and invested in my first DSLR. More so, actually: my passion has become my career. Being able to combine a love of collecting and arranging, my instinct for finding (and crafting) stories, and using my camera every day, is truly inspiring.

I’d love to work with you.
